Spring Community Litter Pick - Saturday 23rd March

We’ve booked the Neighbourhood Wardens for our Spring Community Litter Pick, 10am – 12noon from the Cornwell Centre on Saturday 23rd March.

Please make a note of the date and join us if you can.

Pancake lunch - Sunday 10th Feb

Our "pre-Lenten pancake lunch" will be on Sunday 10th Feb after the service.

We will provide:
* Plain pancakes, but if you want to bring some of your own home-made ones they'll be very welcome
* Fillings for sweet pancakes (lemon juice, sugar, golden syrup and some chocolaty stuff)
But...
* Please bring your own savoury fillings, e.g. ham and cheese, coronation chicken, ratatouille or anything else - be inventive! Could you let us know what you will be bringing - and if any of you are bringing a salad instead of a savoury filling. Thank you.

Friends and family are very welcome - however...
to ensure we 're catering for the right sort of numbers it would be helpful if you could let Richard and Katrina know by Friday 8th to indicate if you're coming... and how many of you there are likely to be!

Christmas Day

Our Christmas Day service at the Cornwell Centre is at 11am; no refreshments before or after and we’ve only booked the hall until 12noon so a short service, but long enough for Carols, Readings, a thought and Prayers (Oh and a chance for the children to show some of their presents).

Do come along if you can.

Wishing you all a very happy Christmas,

Tony

Carol singing this Wed 19th December - please join us!

Please come and join us this Wed (19th) for an hour as we have another opportunity to share the Good News of Christmas with our neighbours.

Children / family / friends are welcome.

If you've never been carol-singing with Cornwell before, you might like to know why we're doing it and what to expect:

  • We'll meet at 6 p.m. at the junction of Highworth Way and The Knoll (just along from Tony & Evelyn's)
  • We'll sing some well-known carols outside the homes in those roads
  • While most of us are singing, one or two willing volunteers will ring doorbells and wish residents a Merry Christmas on behalf of the church, offer them a chocolate and invite them along to Messy Nativity (on Christmas Eve) and Cornwell (on Christmas Day).
It's one of the best opportunities we have over the year to 'take the church out into the community'. We've made some good contacts through carol-singing and people are generally pleased to see us...and surprised to learn that we're not collecting money!

Even if it's cold or wet, it won't be as uncomfortable as...
- keeping watch over your flocks by night, or...
- a camel ride from Persia to Palestine
...and there will be refreshments at Tony & Evelyn's afterwards!

So please come if you can!

Carols & Nativity Service

A big thank you to everyone who came to our Carols & Nativity service this afternoon. It was great seeing you all and everyone seemed to have a good time. We raised over £30 to help send Bees to Africa.

Carol Singing on Friday 14th December

Cornwell Church ‘warmly’ invite you all to join in with the Carol Singing on Friday – past singers have ended up with cold feet – but always say it is good fun!! The singers will be meeting at 8.00 pm at the corner of Clements Mead and Chapel Hill, and if you can’t make this session, there’s another one next week, in another part of the estate, on the 19th at the earlier time of 6.00 pm. You’ll receive more details about the next one next week. Please come if you’re able – you’ll be very welcome.

Operation Christmas Child - 110 shoeboxes

Here's just some of our 110 shoeboxes we had at our service this morning.

When combined with those at St Catherine's, which included contributes from local Brownie packs at Southcote Mission, we currently expect to be loaded 339 boxes into the van on Monday morning.

Thanks to everyone who contributed for showing God's love in action.
