Carol Singing Invitation

Please come and join us on Tue 16th or Tue 23rd for an hour as we have another opportunity to share the Good News of Christmas with our neighbours.   Children / family / friends are welcome.

If you've never been carol-singing with Cornwell before you might like to know why we're doing it and what to expect:

  • On Tuesday 16th we'll meet at 7pm at the top of Meadowside
  • We'll sing some well-known carols outside the homes in Meadowside & Barefoot Close.
  • On Tuesday 23rd we'll meet 7pm at the entrance to Prince William Drive and sing some well-known carols outside the homes in Prince William Drive, Bracken Close & Thistledown.
  • While most of us are singing, one or two willing volunteers will ring doorbells and wish residents a Merry Christmas on behalf of the church, offer them a chocolate and invite them along to our Christmas services.

It's one of the best opportunities we have over the year to take the church out into the community. We've made some good contacts through carol-singing and people are generally pleased to see us...and surprised to learn that we're not collecting money!

Even if it's cold or wet, it won't be as uncomfortable as...
- keeping watch over your flocks by night, or...
- a camel ride from Persia to Palestine
...and there will be refreshments afterwards at the home of the Bartletts on the 16th & the O'Sullivans on the 23rd.

We'll provide carol sheets; you'll need warm clothing and a torch

So please come if you can!

Christmas Services in the Parish

Christmas Cool Club Party

This evening's Cool Club Christmas Party was the last Cool Club to be held in the Cornwell Center.

After 17 years we're moving to St Catherine's Hall, restarting in the New Year on 13th January. Hope to see you there !

Also a big thank you to Tony & Evelyn Bartlett who have helped run it all those 17 years, and will help continue to run it at St Catherines.

Joint service - 10.30am Sunday 30th November at St Catherine’s

A reminder that it is a ‘Messy Advent’ joint service at St Catherine's at 10:30am on Sunday 30th November.  There will be no service at Cornwell that day.

Please join us as all the parish congregations join together to celebrate Advent with a Messy Church flavour.

After the service there'll be a ‘Bring and Share’ lunch.  It’ll be casseroles and jacket potatoes then desserts.

Showbox Service - Sunday 16th November

We hope you can join us on Sunday 16th for our Shoebox service.  Even better - bring a friend, so that they too can see God's love in action as a simple showbox brings Good News and Great Joy to less fortunate children around the world.

Tea and Cake from 10:30am, Service starts around 11:00 am.

Next few Sundays at Cornwell

The next few Sundays at Cornwell will be particularly significant and exciting ...

Sunday 9th November – Denis taking a communion service, it’s Remembrance Sunday so if you can, please arrive at least 5 minutes before 11am so that as in previous years we can have "two minutes' silence" around the table before starting the service.

Sunday 16th November – Shoebox service, still time to assemble your shoebox (we have plenty of ‘self assembly’ ready decorated ones) we’ll see the 2014 DVD about what happens to the filled Shoeboxes; this is a good service to invite friends/relations along to.

Sunday 23rd November – Denis taking 3 baptisms; Nicola O’Sullivan and Beren & Toby Caton.  Nicola and others are being confirmed 4pm St Marys Minster Reading; do come to support her.

Sunday 30th November – No service at Cornwell; it’s a joint ‘Messy Advent’ service 10.30am at St Catherine’s.  There’ll be a hot lunch afterwards if you can stay– there’s a list at church to sign up to bring casserole, shepherds pie, jacket potatoes etc.
