Another successful year for Cornwell Charity Crafts and our thanks go to Caroline, Val and their helpers for the making, setting up and selling of all the hand-made goods. Their profits went to our annual charity - this year Send-a-Cow.
In addition to the money they raised, church members contributed to one Christmas card per family and donated the money saved. We then added a contribution from our Missions fund to make a total of £1,020, enough to buy 34 educational packs at £30 each.
But it gets better, under government match funding Send-a-Cow were able to double our donation - so that’s 68 Educational packs!
The packs support the charity’s training programmes in schools, where children are taught about the need for healthy and nutritious food, how to grow their own fruit and veg on a school plot, and the benefits of working together.
Schoolchildren who have enough to eat are better able to concentrate on their lessons and are more likely to have a positive future.
The latest news from Cornwell Community Church, a church in Tilehurst, Reading which is part of the Anglican parish of Tilehurst : St Catherine's & Calcot : St Birinus.
New Songs CD
During refreshments we play a CD in the background consisting of new songs we're considering introducing as part of our worship.
As was mentioned during this mornings service, a new CD of 16 songs was introduced today. You can hear those songs here.
If you are interested in checking out the songs on last years CD, you can find them here.
You'll quickly realise that only a few of these songs have become part of our repertoire. Are there any you think we really should have introduced ?

This coming Sunday, it's a 5th Sunday joint 'Celebration Together' service at St Catherine's at 10.30am. There is no service at Cornwell.

There's restricted parking in the church car park but Birch Copse have allowed the church to use their car park on Sunday mornings.
